Today Apple released Mac OS X 10.7.2 the 2nd major update to Mac OS X Lion. This is the first time all Macs are running the same build of Mac OS X Lion, Build 11C74. It is an extremely important update, rolling in iCloud integration, and is recommended for all users. To update for any supported configuration, do not use Software Update. We recommend that all users update systems using the standalone Combo installer.

Apple now ships OS X Lion via the Mac App Store and not on DVD. That’s progressive and all, but it isn’t that convenient. Think ahead. What if there’s an emergency? You might need to do a clean install or reinstall for any number of reasons. It’s easy to create your own installation DVD. Here’s how.

Getting ready, make sure your current Mac is prepared to install Lion. Of course, you need to download OS X Lion from the Mac App Store.

 

Now locate the Mac OS X Lion installer in your Application folder. Right-click and choose Show Package Contents.
